Katy Smail’s vibrant illustrations follow melancholy characters and their sometimes-tragic stories. Raised in a little village nestled in the hills near Edinburgh, Scotland, Katy graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a First Class degree in Illustration. She began her career as a writer and illustrator for Fashion156.com in London, and then followed whimsy to the United States. Katy’s ability to capture bittersweet moods within her playful collages identifies her as a sensitive and expressive personality. She now lives in New York where she draws haunting girls with broken hearts, lost lovers and dusty dresses.
